Job Overview
Nooks is searching for Security Professionals passionate about the evolution of the Industrial Security Community and is selecting an Industrial Security Specialist to join the Nooks Colorado Springs Security Team.
This is a multidisciplinary position for an Industrial Security Specialist to support customers at all classification levels. Nooks Colorado Springs is a brand-new facility and the selectee will be responsible for implementing the construction security plan, accreditation process, and bringing security operations at Nooks Colorado Springs to life. A competitive candidate has demonstrated experience in construction security and security operations management. As an industrial security specialist, the ideal candidate has formerly excelled as a Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO), Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) or Program Security Representative (PSR) with experience as a communications security (COMSEC) custodian. Candidates will be customer-facing and must be able to deliver exceptional customer service as a Nooks ambassador.
The selectee will provide on-site security services and customer services for NISPOM, SCI, and SAR programs. The selectee will directly participate in the evaluation and improvement of on-site security and business operations, policies, and technologies.
Eligibility Requirements:
- US Citizen
- Top Secret/SCI eligibility current within the past 6 years
- Must meet special access eligibility requirements of DoDM 5205.07 Volume 2
- Be prepared to complete a polygraph
- Competencies: Strong working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM), SCI/SAR security procedures, and personnel and facility security management databases (e.g., NISS, DISS, JADE, SCATTERED CASTLES). Must understand security-in-depth strategies, Security Awareness Training and Education (SATE), and security incident reporting. Additional experience in personnel and customer management preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams), Google Workspace, and collaboration tools such as Slack.
General Responsibilities:
- Accountable to the Site Security Lead for all security operations at Nooks Colorado Springs
- Responsible for training and overseeing junior security team members
- COMSEC Account Management and experience with COMSEC Key Loading Device and COMSEC equipment in compliance with NSA regulations
- Exercise tact and discretion in handling sensitive information and situations
- Manage NISP security activities, including visitor control, personnel security, and program security. Oversee self-inspections, security violation investigations, and compliance with NISPOM and DoDM guidance. Lead preparation for DCSA and government security assessments
- Provide/verify initial security briefing/onboarding to new employees, customers and visitors and debriefings for employees and customers under Nooks’ cognizance
- Manage Insider Threat awareness and training in accordance with NISPOM guidance
- Oversee and deliver Security Education and Training in accordance with DoD, Specific Customer and NISPOM guidance and requirements for cleared and non-cleared personnel
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures in accordance with the NISPOM
- Report security incidents and adverse information in accordance with policy.
- Manage security related programs, i.e., DISS/NBIS, NISS, and SCI and SAP level databases
- Facilitate clear oral and written guidance to diverse audiences
- Provide classified information management
- Manage implementation and maintenance of security systems, including intrusion detection and access control. Collaborate with Information Security and IT teams on classified system accreditation and new technology planning under RMF guidelines.
- Perform program security administrative tasks and duties, i.e., filing, updating logs/lists, supplies, coordination with internal and external customers
- Maintain classified material accountability records to include inventory lists, receipt and transmittal records and final disposition documentation
- Review prime and subcontract DD254s. Implement required security controls as prescribed in the DD254, SOW, and SCG
- Review and verify personnel security clearances and SAP/SCI accesses through queries to government security databases and systems (JADE, DISS, SIMS, SCATTERED CASTLES or similar database)
- Perform initial access eligibility determinations and create PARs and SCI nominations
- Generate and/or review Program Access Request (PAR) packages
- Ensure all classified materials are marked and controlled in accordance with contractual requirements
- Implement security classification guidance
- Implement required security controls as prescribed in the DD254, SOW, and SCG
- Enforce various security policies including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), transportation plans, OPSEC plans, and Program Protection Implementation Plans (PPIP)
- Oversee security violation analyses, investigations, and resolve classified security issues and deliver findings to executive leadership and USG security agencies
- Liaise with government agency representatives, external customers, contractors, executives, employees, and managers
- Maintain awareness of Fixed Facility Checklists and recommend changes based on observed changes in the physical status of the facility
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with the following credentials will have a competitive edge and stand out for this role:
- Certifications: Industrial Security Professional (ISP®), Physical Security Professional (PSP®), Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC), or equivalent
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Intelligence Studies, or a related field; ICD 705, TEMPEST or Site Security Manager Training
- Experience: 5+ years experience with a proven track record in program security, facility security management, and classified infrastructure operations
- Professional Development: Active participation in ASIS International, NCMS (The Society of Industrial Security Professionals), or similar industry organizations
